Alan Porter

Dr. Alan L. Porter (aporter@searchtech.com) is Director of Research and Development for Search Technology, Inc., Norcross, Georgia, USA. He is also Professor Emeritus of Industrial & Systems Engineering, and of Public Policy at Georgia Tech, where he remains with the Technology Policy and Assessment Center. He is author of some 200 articles and books, including Tech Mining (Wiley, 2005). He is pursuing ways to exploit science & technology information to generate and visualize intelligence on emerging technologies. He has worked with various organizations to improve their technology watch capabilities. Recent work has keyed on ways to generate Quick Technical Intelligence Products (QTIP) to support organizational decision processes.
