Francesc Ortega

Francesc Ortega is the Dina Axelrad Perry Professor in Economics at the Queens College of the City University of New York. His research is on the economics of immigration, focusing on labor market effects, the political economy of immigration policy, the effects of skilled visas on innovation and productivity, and the economic consequences of the legalization of undocumented workers. He has also researched the economic effects of rising sea levels on coastal urban areas, with an emphasis on New York city. To this date, Francesc has published 20 articles in peer-reviewed economics journals. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and the MacArthur Foundation, among other sources, and has been featured in national and international media.
